   You’ve been noticing something odd about that particular girl lately. You like her but you’re not sure if she likes you. Your friends are telling you that she’s showing signs of her interest for you but still you insist on making sure that it’s what it seems just to make sure before you make your first move.

   Not knowing when a girl likes you can be stressful. Being aware of her interest level can help raise your confidence to ask her on first dates, second ones and more! So to help you gauge this, look for these clues so you can decide if it is time to move forward or cut your losses and move on to the next one. Of course it differs from one girl to another but basically there are some patterns that you can at least watch out for to know or have some hint at least of her feelings for you. You don’t need all of the signs to know if she likes you, but there should be at least two to give you confidence in her response to you.

   If you’re in a room with people, most of the time she will keep an eye on you when you’re not looking. Try to keep watch for meeting eyes with her a lot. Even maybe once, it could be a sign that she likes you.

   If the girl looks at you a lot but when you look at her she turns away, but there’s still that little moment of smiling towards each other, that’s a pretty big sign that she likes you.

   When you look at her and she looks at you for a few seconds, some girls will say “What?” or “What are you looking at?” in a flirty tone. This could also be a sign that she likes you.

   (Take note also that some girls are self-conscious of what they do. This makes them unwilling to be obvious, so don’t heavily rely on checking to see if they are staring at you.)

   Approach her and then try smiling and/or say Hi. Look for any changes. Some girls will start to straighten their shirts and rearrange their hair. If she smiles back politely, becomes extremely nice at you, she likes you. If she blushes or freaks out and starts sweating or looks nervous (she’s thinking that you already know) she definitely likes you.

   When passing by her with her friends, they may start giggling or saying something to you if they never have done before. If her friends look at her meaningfully, you may be lucky.

   When she is having a conversation with her friends, and you come over, she might stop talking all of a sudden or sound even louder to capture your attention.

   Strike up a small conversation with her. If she constantly makes attempts to touch your hand, she likes you. If she’s shy, the tone of her voice might be a little higher and she might start to play with her hair (smoothing it down, twirling, flipping) or adjusting her clothes. She’ll smile and laugh, perhaps nervously, at your comments and jokes. If she’s confident, she’ll match the tone of her voice with yours and she’ll smile and laugh at your jokes. She’ll act the same way with you as she does around her friends, only friendlier and a little less bubbly. If she’s flirty, she may be difficult to read. Flirtatious girls may flirt with just guy friends and it can be misconstrued as a crush. Because most girls do not want to be obvious, the flirtatious ones might flirt with you a little bit less or they might flirt with you even more. They might tap your shoulder while talking to you, gently push you or burst out laughing when you tell a joke.

   Also when talking to her, see how she responds. Quick, clipped responses mean she is not interested, but if she gives long answers and asks you questions in response this is a good sign.

   If she seems to be dreaming or very far away when you talk to her or when she’s staring at you she’ll either hold it for a long time or pull away immediately, she’s definitely into you.

   When she flirts with you uncontrollably like touching you more often (or finds any excuse to do so), and throwing their arms around you a lot, there’s no doubt about it.

   When you sit next to her, try to touch or brush against her just a little. If she doesn’t move away, it’s possible that she likes you. Watch her reaction though; a frowned face doesn’t add up for her like for you.

   Observe how she is sitting and her body language when near her. She may try to unconsciously mimic your movements. This is an unconscious thing that girls and guys do when they are interested. A good example is when you look at your watch, count from one to ten, then immediately she follows and looks at her watch (if she wears one) as if wondering what you’re waiting for. It just means she’s checking you out. Try watching her shoulder and knee orientation also. When they point to you or her upper body faces your direction; that means she is interested at you. What more when she’s leaning towards you, that means she really likes you. When her legs or feet are widened this means she is very comfortable with her surroundings and with you. If you notice a woman flip her hair and immediately afterward glances your way, she is showing her interest in you and trying to get your attention focused on her by catching your eye.

   Always making fun of you and acting mean for no reason at all when you do something stupid are also signs that she likes you.

   Go up to her friends and say, “Have you seen __?” If she likes you, they will nod and smile and tell you. If she doesn’t they’ll ask, “Why?”

   If she starts hanging around with your friends more and when you’re around she talks a little louder, acts a little friendlier, and her body language becomes more excited, this might be a good thing. Girls are naturally instinctive and pick up on the smallest things so she might use your friends as a way to get closer to you. Of course it might also mean that she likes one of your friends.

   When she’s always laughing at your jokes and becomes extremely interested when she hears your name or anything about you in a conversation, she definitely likes you.

   Check if she seems mad, jealous, or will say comments like “just kiss her already” when you flirt with other girls.

   If she asks you something like “Have you been asked out to the dance yet?” she’s implying that she wants you to ask her out to the dance.

   If she stalks you, she likes you.

   Give her your phone number and see if she calls you.

   Tell her you like her and just see what she says. But if she does not like you, NO means NO! Unless she tries to be your friend, don’t put on the whole “just-friends” act. You might as well forget her.

   Last, but not least, if she says, “I like you,” then you know she likes you.
