It's 12:18am and am exhausted, and I cannot imagine how tired you are. You get up so early (4am? Not even sure. When was the last time I got up that early?) and you go to work at a job you don't exactly love, for too little pay, and you work way too much.
And yet, when you come home, and I have to go to work, you take care of the kids, and make dinner, and tuck them in.
And whenever I am down, you are there for me. I was so sad tonight, and you always listen and take me side! It's been 14 years since we got married, but I swear it seems like 2 years. Time just rushes faster and faster, like a snow ball rolling down hill gathering momentum. We've been through a lot together, births and deaths, and things I never would've imagined would happen to us. I guess we are supposed to be grown ups now, I guess we are supposed to be strong. I couldn't do any of this without you. I live for the days when I can lay my head on my pillow and just talk to you about random things. And you always make me laugh, and you are a fabulous cook...good thing one of us is.
I just couldn't imagine not having you there every day. I am really grateful that you put up with me, and love me.
You are a really good person.

We have nothing in common, but that's what's the best about us.
We don't live close, but we appreciate the time we have together more than the average couple.

My dearest Shauna

Thought right now you are but a name in my heart... hoping that by this time next year you will be in our family forever. We have been waiting so many months for you to find us and us to find you... still, we have many more months ahead. We started this journey 2 years ago and month by month the wait has become longer then we were told or expected but don't think that I am giving up on you... I am in it for the long haul, until the day we travel to China to finally be able to pick you up. Even now you are my daughter in every sense of the word... I even dream of you and that one day soon we will meet. There are days that I am good and there are days that I am not so good. I go down into what is going to be your room and I look at clothes that I have for you and dream of what you are going to look like in them. Right now... I am not having such a good day - wishing that you were here. In my heart of hearts I just now that it isn't the right time for you to be here... it just isn't time. I wonder what day you will be born, I wonder when you will be abandoned, that I hope that I 'see' you in my dreams that night so that I can look after you until someone finds you and takes care of you until we get here. Have faith in the 'nannies' that will be looking after you as they will do their best to keep you healthy, happy and warm until your dad and I get there. Why did your parents let you go? That is something that both you and I will never, ever know. I will try to help you find the answers to those questions and more as best as I can but they aren't always going to be what you want to hear but even then we will be beside you to cuddle you and love your forever when you go through those days but just know this... You have lots of people over here in the USA and Australia that are patiently awaiting your arrival. Who look forward to having you in thier lives forever. I love you my sweet baby girl... though you are a name right now... you are forever in my heart, even long after you are in your 'Forever Family'... I love your forever and look forward to the day we meet...

Here in Michigan, we are trained to hate you, Ohio, and the reasons are numerous. Your state is flat, there are too many rednecks, and not one of you knows how to properly navigate traffic. Moreover, Michigan has lost to Ohio State in football one too many times for there to be anything but hatred between our two states.
Falling in love with an Ohioan, and a Buckeye to boot, is terribly embarrassing for me. And yet, since the day I met you my life has improved in a thousand ways.
Your infectious laugh, your quirky humor and your brilliant mind have captivated me since the day I met you, and in our year and a half together, I have fallen in love with you more and more. At last, our geography has ceased to matter.
All that matters is the experiences we share, the goals we have created together and the adventures ahead of us.

I know you'll never read this. That's why I'm writing it, you know me better than anyone so you know that I can't tell anyone the entire truth, I can't say exactly how I feel to any one person. I guess it really doesn't make any sense that I'm telling it to hundreds, maybe thousands, of people, does it? Maybe I should save this for when we get engaged or get married but you know me. You know how incredibly impatient I am and how when I want to do something, I want to do it now.

I met you five years ago and I have loved you for all five years. Even when we were apart for five months. That was the summer that the Ataris released "The Boys of Summer". Everytime I heard that song, my heart broke a little because I knew that the Ataris were your favorite band. When I think back to that, I think of how young we were. About how that song fit us perfectly. "And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong after the boys of summer have gone". I think of when Meghan and I went down to Jared's house and played pool with you guys. About how I sucked at pool. About how Meghan tried to get you to be totally cheesy and put your arms around me and teach me how to play. I bet you don't remember that, do you?

Now when I hear that song, I think of how it let me know that we would end up together. It's silly isn't it? One song about summer let me know that you'd be mine. And I am so incredibly lucky to have you. I have never felt more comfortable around anyone else and I have never really been myself around anyone else.
